Pachinko is a popular form of entertainment and gambling in Japan, deeply ingrained in the country’s culture and history. Originating in the early 20th century as a mechanical game resembling a vertical pinball machine, pachinko has evolved into a multimillion-dollar industry with dedicated parlors found throughout Japan.
Players purchase small metal balls, which they then launch into a pachinko machine filled with pegs, pins, and pockets. The objective is to manipulate the balls in a way that they fall into certain pockets, triggering a cascade of events that may lead to more balls, tokens, or prizes.
About Akihabara Pachinko tour
Pachinko is a uniquely Japanese game and requires a minimum understanding of the mechanics and rules in order to enjoy it.
First, a lecture is given in the classroom on how pachinko works and how to play the rules. (30 minutes) Next, go to a pachinko parlor and actually play pachinko. A guide will accompany you so that you can play pachinko in peace. (60 minutes)
You can leave your luggage at the classroom so you can play Pachinko without it. To play pachinko, you will need Japanese yen in cash. You will need at least 10,000 yen to play for 60 minutes.
If you win a prize, you can exchange it for a prize at a special counter. The guide will assist you even if you don’t understand Japanese.
At the end of the tour, please return to the classroom, fill out a short questionnaire, collect your checked baggage, and leave. This tour will last approximately 2 hours.
